Can I Control My Holiday Lighting with My Voice?

As the holiday season approaches, clients have asked can they control their holiday lighting with their voice. The answer is yes. The benefits of smart lighting control, in addition to turning the lights on/off with your voice, is the ability to schedule the lights to turn on and off using the smart app. This eliminates the need to squeeze behind the tree to plug in the lights. There are a couple of good solutions, Kasa Smart and Lutron. Both manufacturers ofter indoor and outdoor devices and can be controlled with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Both offer simple apps. For outdoors, it’s the Kasa Outdoor Dimmer which is available in single and dual circuit versions. The Lutron outdoor option is the Lutron Caseta Outdoor Plug. Indoors, it’s the Kasa Smart Plug Mini. The Lutron indoor option is the Caseta Wireless Smart Lighting Lamp Dimmer. One of benefits of the Lutron line is that it allows for dimming and has more expansion options if, in the future, you would like to expand smart lighting throughout your home.
