Do I Need an Amplifier for Sonos Home Theater Rear Speakers?

With more and more of our clients purchasing the Sonos Arc Home Theater system, they often ask “Do I Need an Amplifier for Sonos Home Theater Rear Speakers?” The answer to this question is yes and no, it depends on the type of speaker you select for your rear speakers. If you are using Sonos 1 speakers as the rear speakers, no amplifier is needed but each speaker requires an electrical outlet. Since the power cords cannot be hidden, clients often find this option aesthetically challenging. If you select a flush mounted in wall such as Episode Signature speakers or in ceiling speaker such as Bose 791 speakers, a Sonos amplifier is needed to power these speakers. The advantage of these speakers is that the speaker wires can be hidden in the walls and the amplifier can be located out of sight. This option is much more aesthetically pleasing.
