How Many Speakers Can I Connect to a Sonos Amp?

Updated: Feb 22, 2022

Typically, a Sonos amp can power 2 pairs (4 speakers of any 8-ohm speakers) when wired in parallel. The exception to this rule is Sonos Architectural Speakers by Sonance. The Sonos Amp can power three pairs (6 speakers of Sonos Architectural speakers) when wired in parallel. It is important to note then when connecting multiple speakers to a single amplifier, all the speakers will operate as a single zone. This means that all speakers will come on at the same time, play the same music, and stay at the same volume level. There will be no independent on/off or volume control. Operating as a single zone should be considered when combining multiple rooms on a single amp. Ask yourself the question: Will there ever be a time where I need to turn one room off or need different volume levels in different rooms?
