How to Group Rooms in the Sonos App?

Clients often want to play the same music in multiple rooms at the same time. With the Sonos app, you can group rooms together easily—and even when rooms are grouped, you can still control the volume in each room independently.

To create a temporary group:

Tap the box with a small number next to the room that’s currently playing.

This opens a screen showing all the rooms in your system.

Tap the circle next to each room you want to add. A check mark will appear.

Once you’ve selected your rooms, scroll down and tap Apply.

Important: If you don’t tap Apply, the group will not be created.

On the Your System page, grouped rooms will appear together with a single volume control. To adjust volumes individually, tap the grouped rooms and each room’s control will appear.

To remove rooms from a group:

Tap the box next to the grouped rooms that are playing.

You’ll return to the room selection screen.

Tap the check mark next to any room you want to remove (the circle will clear).

Scroll down and tap Apply to save your changes.

Again, if you don’t tap Apply, your changes will not be saved.

Sonos also allows you to create permanent groups—we’ll cover that next week.
