Can I add Bose speakers to my non Bose 5.1 receiver?

Many of our clients have invested heavily in a non-Bose home theater receiver and at times are reluctant to upgrade to a new complete Bose Lifestyle system. Many ask if Bose speakers can be used with their existing receiver. The answer is yes. Bose offers 2 speaker systems, Bose AM-6 and the Bose AM-10. These 2 systems are designed to work with 3rd party receivers. The difference between the 2 systems is the speakers. The Bose AM-6 system uses the Acoustimass cube speaker; the AM-10 uses the Bose direct-reflecting cube speaker. Under most circumstances, I recommend the Bose Lifestyle systems for 2 main reasons. First, the benefit of a complete system is that all of the components are designed to work with each other; there is no issue about matching components from different manufacturers. The 2nd reason is ease of use. Many people find a component system much more difficult to operate than a Bose Lifestyle system. However, if you have been using your existing receiver, you are familiar with operating the receiver then adding a Bose Home Theater speaker system will only enhance your experience.
