The short answer—yes, and they sound amazing.
The Sonos Era 300 is one of the most versatile speakers Sonos has ever released. With six built-in drivers in each enclosure, it delivers a wide, immersive soundstage. On its own, the Era 300 works beautifully as a stand-alone speaker, or you can pair two together for a richer spatial audio experience.
Over the last few weeks, we’ve installed several home theater systems using Era 300s as surround speakers, paired with a Sonos Arc Ultra soundbar and Sonos Sub. The results? Stunning. With both lateral and overhead drivers firing, the setup delivered a Dolby Atmos experience that placed our clients right in the middle of the action.
Era 300 vs. Flush-Mounted Surround Speakers
If you’re deciding between Era 300s or flush-mounted speakers for surrounds, here are a few things to keep in mind:
Power Source: Flush-mounted speakers are passive, powered by a Sonos Amp and wired directly. The Era 300, on the other hand, requires a nearby electrical outlet but does not need speaker wires.
Placement: Flush-mounted speakers disappear into walls or ceilings for a clean, built-in look. Era 300s can be surface-mounted, placed on stands, or set on a shelf—giving you more flexibility in placement.
Room Aesthetics: If blending into the room is your priority, flush-mounts win. If you prefer flexibility and maximum Dolby Atmos performance, Era 300s shine.
Just remember—wherever you place your Era 300s, you’ll need access to power outlets.
If you’re looking for big, immersive sound with minimal wiring, the Era 300s make excellent surround speakers. If you prefer a more discreet, built-in look, flush-mounted speakers may be the way to go. Either way, Sonos gives you powerful options for creating a true theater experience in your home.
