How Do I Turn Off My Sonos System Using the Sonos App?

One of the most common questions we hear from clients who are new to Sonos is, "Where's the Off button?"

The answer is simple—there isn't one. Sonos speakers are designed to stay in a low-power standby mode whenever they're not in use.

To stop music from playing, simply tap the Pause button for the room that's playing music. If you've grouped multiple rooms together, tap the Pause button for the entire group. Once paused, the music stops immediately, and the speaker automatically enters an ultra-low-power standby mode that uses about the same amount of electricity as a small LED light bulb.

Keeping the speaker in standby allows it to remain ready for instant playback and enables the Sonos app to remember what was last playing in each room, making it quick and easy to resume your music whenever you're ready.
