What Sonos Devices Are Voice Enabled?

One of the convenient features available with many Sonos products is Sonos Voice Control, which allows you to control your Sonos system simply by saying, “Hey Sonos.”

Several Sonos products have built-in microphones and support voice control, including the Sonos Arc Ultra, Beam (Gen 1 and Gen 2), Era 100, Era 300, Move, Move 2, Roam, Roam 2, and Sonos One (Gen 1 and Gen 2). One important exception is the Sonos One SL, which does not have a microphone and is not voice enabled.

The nice thing about Sonos Voice Control is that you aren't limited to controlling only the speaker you're talking to. From a voice-enabled Sonos device, you can direct commands to other rooms and Sonos products throughout your system.

With Sonos Voice Control, you can request music from Sonos Radio, Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, Deezer, and Pandora. You can also adjust the volume, change tracks, pause or stop the music, and group or ungroup rooms.

Voice Control can do more than just control music. You can set timers, ask what song is playing, check the time or weather, and even check the battery level of portable Sonos speakers. If you have a Sonos home theater product connected to your TV through HDMI-ARC or eARC, you can also use voice commands to turn your TV on and off.

Setting up Sonos Voice Control is easy. Open the Sonos app, go to Settings > General Settings > Voice Assistants > Add a Voice Assistant, and select Sonos Voice Control. Follow the instructions to add it to the voice-enabled Sonos products in your system. If you'd like to use Sonos to check the weather, you can also set your default location in the app.

Sonos Voice Control is another feature that makes a Sonos system easy and convenient to use—especially when your phone isn't nearby.
