What Outdoor Speaker is Right for My Outdoor Living Space?

There are 2 types of outdoor speakers to choose from, surface mounted speakers and in-ground. To determine which one is right for you, first determine your goals. If you are looking to cover a specific area such as a Deck or Patio, a surface mounted speaker is the right choice. The surface mounted speaker projects sound from the front of the speaker only and can be directed towards a specific area. The surface mounted speaker bracket allows you control the angle of the speaker to further control the coverage area. Bose offers 2 surface-mounted outdoor speaker models 151’s and the 251’s. On the other hand, the Bose FS-51 in-ground speakers disperses sound in a 360 degree circular pattern and is ideal for pool areas, large backyards and gardens. The Bose FS-51 speaker does not allow directional control and as a result, the proximity of neighbors should be considered with this speaker. Next week, we will review powering your outdoor speakers.
