Last week a client called and asked how many speakers can be connected to a Bose SA-5 amplifier? We originally discussed this in 2016 and now seems a good time to revisit this topic. You can connect up to four (4) 4-8 ohm speakers to a SA-5 amplifier. This is ideal for large areas where 4 speakers are required for good sound coverage. However, be aware, when 4 speakers are connected to the Bose SA-5 amplifier, all speakers will play the same source at the same volume. Because of this, it is not recommended to use a single amplifier for 2 spaces. If you want the ability to play different sources in each space or have independent volume control for each space, 2 Bose SA-5 amplifiers are required. For example, you would not want to use a single Bose SA-5 amplifier to power your Kitchen and Deck speakers. There will be many times where you would want to play the Kitchen speakers without the Deck speakers.
