What Internet Speed should I have for video and music streaming?

For many of our clients, upgrading their home entertainment systems to take advantage of today’s video and music streaming services can be a daunting task. Many questions center around what hardware is required and what services are better than others. However, the 1stquestion that needs to be answered is the client’s Internet speed and the strength of their wireless network. There are many variables that impact your Internet speed, the biggest being the number of devices streaming simultaneously. For the average home, 5 Mb/s is good for music streaming. For video streaming services, 25 Mb/s is required. A quick and easy way to check your Internet speed to go to www.fast.com. This is Netflix free site that will measure your Internet speed. Once you are on the site, it will automatically test your Internet speed. Next week, we will review testing the strength of your Wi-Fi network. Please visit our website at www.wbsouth.com.
