Accessing Your Music Services with Soundtouch

Last week we had a client call and said he couldn’t play Pandora on his Bose Soundtouch system. After a brief conversation with our client, it was determined that the client was trying to play Pandora directly from his phone and not through the Bose Soundtouch app. Remember to play your music services on your Bose Soundtouch system, you must first open the Bose Soundtouch app and then select your music service. If you try to access your music services directly from your phone

With Bose Soundtouch, Can I play connected devices such as CD/DVD player in other zones?

Soundtouch owners often want to play connected devices, such as CD players or the TV sound to other zones. If you have a Bose Lifestyle 600 or 650 system or Bose SA-5 amplifiers, this can easily be done. As an example, you have a CD player connected to the Bose Lifestyle 600 console in the Great Room and want to play the CD out on the Patio. First, turn on and play the CD player in your Great Room. Next using the Bose app, add the Patio to the Great Room. You will now hav

One of my Outdoor speakers isn’t working?

This week a client called and said 1 of his 2 outdoors speakers wasn’t working and what can he try? 99% of the time, there are 3 things that can cause this issue, bad speaker, bad amp, or bad speaker wire. Here is a couple of quick steps to try to identify the cause of the problem. First, switch speakers. If the non-working speaker still doesn’t work when switched with the working speaker, you probably have a defective speaker. If the non-working speaker starts to work when

How Can I Check My Outdoor Speakers?

With Memorial Day just around the corner, many of our clients are using their outdoor speakers for the 1sttime this season. Our office has already scheduled 3 service calls for outdoor speakers. Before you incur the expenses of a service call, there are a couple of things you can try. First, check the wire connections at the speakers. Be sure the connections are good and haven’t been chewed by animals. If the connections are good, confirm that the outdoor amplifier is plugge

Can't Connect My New Electronics to My Old Bose System?

Many clients have purchased new electronics such as Apple TV, Roku, or 4K DVD players and can’t connect these new devices to their older Bose systems. The issue is most of these new components including new cable or satellite boxes, only have HDMI outputs and older Bose systems have no HDMI inputs. There is a possible work around to solve this problem. First check and see if your TV has enough HDMI inputs to connect your new components directly to your TV. Next, confirm that

    My Dog Ate My Remote………?

As crazy as that sounds, we have had that happen to a couple of clients in the past. Whether your dog ate your remote, the remote is lost or no longer working, it’s best to order a remote replacement direct from Bose parts. You can reach Bose @ 877-633-4405. Many older remotes are still available. Before you call and you still have your remote, be sure to replace the batteries first. Please note, when you receive your new remote, you will need to program it to control 3rdpar

What is the error message “Bass Module Not Found”?

Two clients with older Bose Lifestyle systems called this week with the error message “Bass Module Not Found”. Three things normally cause this error message, the bass module is defective, the Bose cable is disconnected, or there is no power to the bass module. To determine if your bass module is defective, confirm the bass module is properly connected to a working electrical outlet. To confirm the outlet is working, plug in a lamp or another device to the electrical outlet.

Can I still have my Bose system repaired?

Having installed Bose systems for the past 30 years, we often get calls from past clients, asking if their older Bose systems can still be repaired. Bose still offers factory repair service on many of their older systems. However due to the availability of certain replacement parts, some older systems can no longer be repaired. Starting with the Bose V-20 system, originally released around 2007 and newer, these systems can still receive Bose factory service. Systems manufactu

Why are some older Bose speakers not compatible with the new Bose SA-5 amplifiers?

Many people today are upgrading their older Bose Home Entertainment systems to be compatible in today’s world of streaming music and video and 4K video. In most cases, most existing speakers and wiring can be used for the upgrade. Simply upgrading your Bose Lifestyle console and bass module and any music expansion amplifiers will bring your system into today’s digital world. However if your Bose system is 20 years old or older, there is a good chance your existing speakers c

How can I prepare for the storm?

With Flo heading towards the Mid-Atlantic region, we would like to remind our clients to un-plug their Bose systems and TV’s along with any other electronic devices before the storm. This will eliminate damage from lighting and power surges during the storm. After the storm has passed, be sure your power has been fully restored and is stable before plugging your devices back in. There are times, when power is first restored, that power may drop in out and this can damage your

What Can I expect with a WB South service call?

At WB South, service calls are a big part of our business. The problems are varied such as no picture on my TV, Deck speakers have a static sound, the remote is not working etc. A majority of the time, these issues are related to cable boxes being upgraded, router has been changed, or cables are un-plugged and our technicians can correct them on site. However, if during the trouble shooting process, it is determined that the product is defective, the Bose product needs to be
